Aspiring engineers, manufacturers, and their families were recently invited to explore the dynamic world of manufacturing and discover the life-changing opportunities offered through Spectra’s apprenticeship programmes.

The free events were held at Spectra’s purpose-built factory in Halesworth, and provided an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at one of the UK’s leading independent packaging manufacturers.

Guests enjoyed guided tours both nights that showcased the very heart of our operations. In the Toolroom, skilled staff demonstrated CNC and manual machining techniques that bring designs to life with unparalleled precision. In the Design department, visitors explored how cutting-edge CAD tools and creative processes transform innovative ideas into production-ready solutions. In our Technician Departments, attendees witnessed production in full flow, learning how they run the machines and the troubleshooting that maintains our high standards. In the Maintenance department, our team showcased proactive safety measures and techniques that keep our machinery running smoothly, highlighting a live demonstration of a machine being disassembled and reassembled and an automation robot in action, picking items up and setting them down.

We are incredibly grateful to our dedicated staff helpers whose expertise and friendly guidance ensured every visitor received an engaging and informative tour. A special thank you also goes out to East Coast College and REAGIT Training for attending and sharing valuable insights into the educational aspects of our apprenticeship programmes.

“We are passionate about inspiring the next generation of manufacturing and engineering talent,” said Ella-Rose Harrison-Reeve, Marketing Executive and STEM Ambassador at Spectra Packaging, who coordinated the events. “These evenings have provided a fantastic platform to show that a career in manufacturing is not just a job—it’s a pathway to endless opportunities for growth and innovation. Our team’s enthusiasm, combined with our cutting-edge processes, truly inspires all who visit.”

One of the parents who attended the evening said, “I just wanted to thank your team for the Apprenticeship evening. It was an excellent chance to showcase the opportunities available to young people joining your company, and both my children have been inspired to apply for positions in your next cohort. All the staff we met were wonderful ambassadors for Spectra and I am very pleased to have been able to visit.”

Spectra Packaging is committed to nurturing future talent through comprehensive apprenticeship programmes in Toolroom, Maintenance, Design, and Technician roles.
