Staged at the Birmingham NEC, the prestigious two-day event drew nearly 7000 visitors and 300 exhibitors from far and wide within the packaging sector.
Spectra’s Marketing Manager, Mark Kingston, who coordinates the firm’s exhibitions said,
“This show enables us the perfect opportunity to premiere our latest products while showing how seriously we take our environmental responsibilities”.
He went on to add,
“In recent years, the spotlight has been firmly focussed on the packaging industry and its obligations to ensure what we manufacture, and how we manufacture, have as little impact on the environment as possible. Although there is always more to do, we believe Spectra continues to be ahead of the curve”.
For example, Spectra again highlighted its four-step sustainability commitment with an eye-catching display that explained how the company minimises its impact, manages its waste responsibly and encourages single-use behaviours within their manufacturing plant.
Similarly, an additional informative display also explained the importance of open and closed-loop recycling, which drew significant interest from visitors.
Mark went on to say,
“Some customers are unsure of when a bottle can be recycled back into another bottle, and when it cannot. Conversely, some regard open-loop recycling as inferior to closed loop. However, it is important to point out that when a bottle can’t be repurposed, it can still go on to be recycled into a diverse range of products and doesn’t need to end up in landfill. Hopefully, our’ Love the loop’ display dispelled some of those doubts”.
As well as displays on responsible manufacturing and open and closed-loop recycling, Spectra also highlighted the benefits of post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials and bioplastics. A central feature on their stand explained the recycling process, the effects on colour when using higher percentages of recycled content and some of the differences between start of life and end of life biomaterials.
In addition to Spectra’s strong environmental focus, the firm also displayed a large selection of its 250 or so off-the-shelf products. These were reinforced with a stand-alone feature clearly explaining how one of Spectra’s standard bottles could provide a bespoke look, when combined with one of their many closure figments with innovative decoration and colouring.
“It was always our intention to provide a number of key focal points on our stand, and we were delighted with the positive feedback we received from the many visitors we engaged with over the two-day event”.
Spectra’s next proposed show appearance is at Cosmetic Business in Munich, Germany in June.
