Spectra produced a seamless look container for Scottish award winning barbershop chain Ruffians.

Ruffians, who boast a vintage style barbershop in the heart of Edinburgh, also produce a range of super-premium male grooming products, which include styling, and facial products as well as fragrances.

A sleek seamless look

With the launch of their new range of shampoo and conditioners Ruffians was looking for a slim-line flush-fitting container to compliment their other products.

With little initial success finding the container they wanted, Ruffians eventually approached us and we were able to custom tool a stylish new 250ml slim tubular in HDPE. The new container, finished with a classic soft touch feel also features a flush fit disk cap, which we also sourced.

Ruffians had a very clear vision as to how they wanted their new product to look. They were looking for a sleek seamless result and in the end we decided to tool a new slim version of one of our tubulars which we’ve now incorporated into our range of standards.

Adding vibrancy to colour

Spectra were also tasked with colour matching the blue, which is used across Ruffians’ existing product lines. In addition, the Ruffians corporate yellow logo styling had to be matched exactly whilst retaining its vibrancy on the dark coloured bottle – a technically challenging procedure achieved after much fine tuning by our print department. We also colour managed the yellow disk in the flip-cap which was sourced and manufactured elsewhere.

Our team adjusted the inks to achieve a bright yellow on the Ruffians logo and the vibrant results speak for themselves. As a result, Ruffians were happy for us to then colour manage the cap components, which we didn’t actually manufacture. It’s all part of the service as far as we’re concerned.

Certainly, our acute attention to detail has ensured that Ruffians new range of shampoo and conditioner bottles sit perfectly alongside their other products, which also include jars and tubes.

It was a simple process working with Spectra, they made the manufacture process clear and defined for us, so we could concentrate on what we do best, which is providing award winning formulations and services. Our end product stands out on the shelf with a strong brand presence and feels different and more premium with our co-extruded bottle.
