Spectra Packaging is proud to report yet another successful 12-month period with growth figures of nearly 50%.

Spectra have built on 2012's impressive figures as we look to continuing growth for the coming year despite on-going economic uncertainty for many in British manufacturing.

According to Managing Director, Joe Maynard, there are a number of factors that can be attributed to Spectra's continued success. "We saw a sizeable increase in new business opportunities in 2013. It would appear that our reputation for quality, service and innovative ideas has become increasingly popular with many of the leading brands. Additionally, we've seen growth from our existing client base, who clearly feel they can trust Spectra to consistently deliver. In many ways it's this combination which has driven us to expand all areas of the business in order to satisfy demand".

The past twelve months has seen a number of other positive steps, which have helped the company move to another level.

For example, we have has experienced a significant uptake in custom tooling projects in 2013, with more customers looking to Spectra for bespoke and distinctive packaging solutions. In addition, the company continues to grow its standard ranges with over 150 off-the-shelf packs now available to choose from. As a result, we have invested to offer added capacity in Extrusion and Injection Stretch Blowmoulding machinery.

Another benefit has been our decision to bring all Injection moulding in-house in 2013. A move that has provided greater flexibility and faster lead times as we move toward a single source packaging solution for our customers.

There are of course other factors for such a successful year for Spectra. Further advances in print finishing have proved exceptionally popular with customers as we continue to look for innovative ideas to help customers stay one step ahead of the competition. 2013 saw the launch of two significant advances in print finishing with our tactile high build print and 360 degree circumference printing capabilities.

Joe added, "Spectra are always looking for creative ways to give customers a true point of difference. Many are now taking advantage of a number of our print technologies, which include foil blocking, varnishing and frosting to name a few. The addition of our latest seamless and high build print offerings along with our acute attention to print detail in particular, has resulted in an exceptionally busy year for our print department. In order to satisfy demand, another print machine was installed".

As manufacturing capacity has grown at Spectra, we have also invested heavily in staff too, with personnel increases across all departments. We have continued to run our highly successful apprenticeship schemes as well as offering training for engineering positions to a number of existing non-technical staff in the form of 12-month training initiatives.

Internationally, Spectra have continued to broaden its horizons. Over the past twelve months the business has continued to expand its export sales team with an increased presence across many European territories, including France, Germany, Scandinavia, Poland and the Czech Republic. The company's overseas intentions were further illustrated in 2013 with our first international trade show appearance in Amsterdam in November. Spectra are planning further European show appearances for 2014 in conjunction with their domestic exhibitions.

The company has made plans to continue raising awareness of both its product and service offerings for the coming year as well. Towards the end of 2013, plans were instigated to re-vamp our extensive website to be available in foreign language versions. Additionally, we will also be launching our fourth edition 120-page product catalogue in February.

Joe concluded, "Our outstanding growth figures are the result of a huge amount of hard work from everyone involved within the entire business. 2013 saw a range of expansion developments aimed at providing our customers with the very best packaging solutions possible. However, we are also mindful that one of the overriding problems with increased growth is maintaining the same levels of service and quality". He went on to add, "Although the business has experienced phenomenal growth, Spectra will still confidently offer the same levels of service, personal customer care and attention as before - it's very much a case of business as usual for both existing and prospective customers alike. We are looking forward to pushing on further in the coming year".
